Whether you're a fan of the dark or just looking to get in the holiday spirit, there are plenty of winter solstice events happening in Minnesota this year. From family fun to unique outdoor events, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Let's celebrate the longest night of the season together! Here are our favorites around town!

Belwin Conservancy Winter Solstice Bonfire 

Enjoy a roaring bonfire, guided night hikes, and cookies and hot cider inside a warming tent. Starting at 7:00 pm, you will hear a welcoming song and a song in honor of the solstice by Imniza Ska Dakota Drum Group followed by a full set of Irish music "and traditional stories" from local Minneapolis duo, The Mac and Cheese Band.

American Swedish Institute Winter Solstice 

Mark the shortest day and longest night of the year at ASI with ASI’s popular Winter Solstice Celebration. FIKA Café will serve a special festival menu with small plates and warm glögg (Swedish mulled wine). The ASI Museum Store and Jul Shop will also be open late for all of your last minute gift needs!

Dodge Nature Center Winter Solstice Walk 

With Dodge naturalists as your guide, learn what causes the changes in day length and experience the dark with a hike through the wintery woods and grounds.

Winter Solstice Dinner and Holiday Package Getaway 

Kick off your Holiday celebrations at Gunflint Lodge and enjoy a special Winter Solstice dinner and night hike.This is the perfect time to gather your family or friends together for an early holiday celebration at Gunflint Lodge & Outfitters. On December 21 we will celebrate the Solstice with a special dinner presentation, traditional dinner with a special menu in front of the fireplace, and guided Celestial Legends night hike.
