Packaged in an illustrated box featuring a cat and a mouse. Japanese candles are made of natural wax only, such as rice bran wax, as in this series, allowing mice to feed on them. Japanese candle makers traditionally keep cats as guardians to repel the mice. By extension, a candle shop with cats is a testament to using natural ingredients.

The wick is made from the cured core of a rush weed that has been wrapped with washi paper and silk fibers.

Our candles emit a noticeable aroma in your space, but it will not be as strong as a spray-type air freshener, or a candle made with petroleum-based wax (paraffin) or synthetic fragrances.

As with most plant-based wax candles, the scent becomes most noticeable after burning for approx. 1 hour.  The longer the burn, the stronger the scent will become.  Never burn a candle for longer than 4 hours at a time.

• Remove packaging before burning.
• Burn 1 hour per inch in diameter per use on a stable heat resistant surface.
• Let candle completely cool before moving or relighting. Stop burning when ½" wax remains.
• Trim wick to ¼" before each lighting. Avoid use in drafty areas.
• For indoor use only.
